KICKOFF CELEBRATION
We launched the Wayne UNC Health Care 125 Anniversary Celebration ribbon cutting with the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce.
Wayne UNC Health Care's “125 Year Anniversary Celebration” will be a one-year long series of events, programs, and initiatives at Wayne UNC Health Care and throughout Wayne County. The celebrations will kick off on July 1, 2021 with a ribbon cutting and the launch of the Healthy Wayne County Series. Additional plans for the celebration, which are still being finalized, include interactive components that will allow Wayne County residents to contribute to the celebration as a whole.
The steering committee has selected three initiatives that best embody the 125-year milestone anniversary:
A 125 Heroes Celebration, which recognizes teammates and community members who have contributed in a positive way to the hospital over the years. Through this recognition we will celebrate our history and our diversity and seek to create a sense of inclusion that all contributions to the hospital are valued, no matter the size.
A Pop-Up Museum and traveling exhibition to showcase the role of the hospital in advancing healthcare in Wayne County, anchored by stories of the past and present that reveal the accomplishments of the hospital and the people who made it happen. This educational piece will travel to high schools across the county to encourage students to consider careers in healthcare.
A “Healthy Wayne County” initiative that embodies the hospital’s mission to provide quality care close to home through an educational series of talks with physicians and healthcare professionals on a range of topics of importance to the people of Wayne County. Activities that promote healthy lifestyles will be at the forefront of the series and include a “Fun Run” and a 125 Minutes Outside challenge for families.
